Our National Exhibition at The Lace Guild Museum, Stourbridge

Northumbria Lacemakers have taken their work to the national stage with an exhibition of members' work at The Hollies, The Lace Guild Museum and headquarters in Stourbridge. The exhibition takes place until 6th January 2023 and has already been met with praise (see below). The Lace Guild website includes the following information about the exhibit:

5 October 2022 – 6 January 2023 “Lace by the Northumbria Lacemakers”

This lovely exhibition is currently on display at the Lace Guild. The Northumbria Lacemakers were founded in 1982 attracting Lacemakers from all over the North East of England. The group meet ten times a year, usually on the third Saturday of the month (though not during August or September) in a variety of venues North and South of the Tyne. There is a social aspect to all their meeting with an opportunity to exchange ideas and give help with lace problems. Quizzes and other challenges are arranged and the group have occasional talks on local craft topics. Members have a wide range of skills and visitors are most welcome.

Northumbria Lacemakers member Gil Dye reported, "...I understand from two separate sources that Diana and Heather, with contributions from NL members who provided work for display, have staged an impressive exhibition at the Lace Guild headquarters in Stourbridge. During the Guild’s online AGM , on 9th October, Sue Smith, retiring Lace Guild Chairman commented that the exhibition ‘looks outstanding’. I had had a call earlier in the week from Liz Muncy about a completely different subject and as I knew she had been at the Hollies during the staging I asked how it had gone and she said ‘Great, everything was so well organised and went together really well producing a very interesting exhibition’. Thank you Diana [the group's Chair] for all your hard work in making this happen."
