Reflections on the group's September 2024 exhibition at the beautiful English Heritage setting of Belsay Hall in Northumberland...

In our November edition of Northumbria Lacemakers' newsletter publication Pillow Talk, Gil Dye shared on how seeing work by Northumbria Lacemakers displayed at Belsay in September fulfilled a dream she'd had since first visiting the Hall several decades ago, when she saw the walls of empty shelves that were crying out for lace to be shown there. Once you see the beautiful built-in wooden units, it's easy to see why.

The exhibition included a wide range of lace from the group's lacemakers, from beginner to experienced members, and the display was wonderful to see. Scroll through this gallery to enjoy some of the work on display in this beautiful setting. Group members volunteered to demonstrate lacemaking during the display weekend and there was lots of interest from the general public.

Special thanks to Gil Dye and Ann Hotchkiss who were central to organising this exhibition, and to all our members who kindly loaned us their work.
